Alright: I admit that when I reserved a table at Davio’s, I knew it was an Italian Steakhouse but thought it was another spot that I saw previously, wandering around...Well, that was a happy mistake: Davio’s is a great spot if you want a delicious steak in a nice setting. The service, although a bit slow was good and at least I could see my food...I also appreciated the noise level that allowed us to have a nice conversation; well, until the table next to us came...I mean you just needed one loud guy to spoil a bit the whole thing: it drives me crazy!
I started of by ordering a cocktail and chose the Chris Sweet’s Bococa made with Bulleit rye, Luxardo, Carpano Antica, Montenegro Amaro and a cinnamon stick. Quite good, it was not too strong and well balanced.
They then brought us popovers, a good replacement from the usual bread basket. Problem was that these popovers were quite addictive!
Then, we went straight to steaks. We tried:
The 8oz filet mignon:
The 18oz ribeye (boneless):
The 9oz rack of lamb:
The meat was succulent: well cooked (medium for the filet and medium-rare for the ribeye and lamb), nicely charred, tender and juicy. As sides, we went for the mushrooms, truffle French fries (really good) and onion rings.
For dessert, we were a bit overwhelmed by the nice choices they had on their dessert cart: it would be me, I would get everything. But, as we had to be reasonable, we went for the tiramisu and the Panna cotta. Both were good and a good way to end the meal (well, in fact their homemade brownies, that were complementary, closed the deal).
We left glad to have a bit of walk before going home. The food at Davio’s was so good and I loved the atmosphere there. This is definitely a spot I recommend.
Enjoy (I did)!
