We passed by Los Cuernos in Newport few times and so, as we love Mexican cuisine, we decided to give it a try on a Friday evening. Surprisingly, this place was not packed and, as the weather was nice, we decided to eat outside and drink as well, I decided to try their house margarita that is apparently made with their house tequila. Nice and a great price as only $8 (this was not a happy hour).
We could not of course not get their guacamole that was quite good, with nice chunks of avocado and lots of cilantro.
For her main, Jodi went for their avocado tostada that was a bit bland and we realized later that it was missing some components like the beans.
However, on my side, it was great! I had some tacos. First I should mention that I love when you can pick a few rather than having three of the same. I ordered:
Cecina, made with flank steak.
Barbacoa, made with lamb.
Pescado, made with fish.
My favorite was the lamb one that was slightly spicy, very tasty (I love the robust taste of lamb), and then the fish taco that was deliciously crispy, the fish being well cooked.
Last was dessert. We decided to try their tres leches, that is with churros, our go to dessert. The cake was good, but I should mention that we ditched the canned slice of peach that was unnecessary…
So, overall it was quite good and prices at Los Cuernos are pretty reasonable. I will definitely go back if in the area!
Enjoy (I did)!
