Surf Taco in Hoboken, NJ
Two weeks ago, we decided to try Surf Tacos in Hoboken, NJ. This place replaced the fantastic Taco Truck that unfortunately closed last year, the brick and mortar restaurant not being as successful as the trucks. So the stakes were high, any place serving tacos in that location being for sure compared to its predecessor.

There, you could retrieve the feel of The Taco Truck as they kept most of the decor. And, similar to it, the service gave you the impression that you were bothering them! Well at least, The Taco Truck offered delicious tacos, especially their fish taco that is one of the best I ever had: crunchy on the outside, flakey inside, with a delicious slaw and a nice kick that ruined for good any other taco of that sort that were not as good. And Surf Taco was different: I tried their fish taco made with tempura battered cod, shredded cabbage, pico de Gallo, white cilantro sauce and lime. It was bland, having too much cabbage, and the fish was soggy, missing salt.

The second taco was the buffalo style, composed of breaded chicken, spicy buffalo sauce, pico de Gallo, lettuce and blue cheese dressing. Bland and very salty unfortunately.

The only thing I liked was the cheese quesadilla, a fairly simple thing to do.

As far as the guacamole was concerned, it was just ok, Trader Joe's or Freshdirect having a far better one...Understand: I can get better at the supermarket.

Yes, I was really disappointed and needed something to make me forget this meal. So I ended up at Cold Stone...
