When Toastique opened in Hoboken, I was part of the skeptics: who would want to go eat toast on a regular basis? Alright, I admit that toast might not be my favorite when going for lunch or brunch, unless they have something unique. I changed my mind. Serving gourmet toast, Toastique has a great selection that will satisfy vegetarian and non-vegetarian, with the possibility to add items such as crab, poached egg or salmon to your toast. My favorite is the avocado smash, especially with crab on top. Just looking at the photos, you can see that they are pretty generous in amount of ingredients and they truly taste fresh. Now, I heard some people saying that $16 for a toast is a lot, but, considering the quality and quantity of ingredients, and the fact that in restaurants, you would get the same price, I am fine with it (with the crab, the avocado smash was $20).
They also serve coffee, tea, smoothies and cold pressed juices. I love the Radiance juice, a sparkling drink made with orange, blood orange, grapefruit, pineapple and basil, or Defender that has carrot, orange, apple, turmeric and lemon.
I really like Toastique: their toasts are really good. Know that if you are not in toasts, you can get some healthy bowls and, if you go, make sure you ask for real knives and forks as, although the bread is not that thick and hard to cut, I usually break 3 or 4 plastic forks...
Enjoy (I did)!
